FORMAL DIVISION

ARCHICHOKE/ENGINERD VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE RULES<= /b>

= Rules shall be the latest version of the US Volleyball Outdoor Official Rules including the Special Rules section for CO-ED 6’s play except where specifically stated below:

l.&nb= sp;         Each team must have a minimum of 3 players.&nbs= p; A minimum of one of the fielded players must be female. There is no service or position requirement for the women. Th= ere shall be a maximum of 4 fielded men on a team.

2.&nb= sp;        There is no women hit rule.

3.&nb= sp;        All individual games shall be to 25 points, win by 2, except first team to 27 points wins, using rally scoring (your team does not need to be serving to score). A match shall consist= of 5 games, each game counts as one point in the standings. Spin the ball or use rock, scissor= s, paper to determine first serve. Change sides when the first team reaches 13 points in the 5th game only. =

4.&nb= sp;        In this league due to wind conditions outdoors, the server is allowed an unlim= ited number of tosses as long as a= ny unused toss is allowed to drop to the ground untouched. Serves touching the net are legal = when the 25 point rally scoring is being used.

5.&nb= sp;        The first game of the match shall officially start at 6:45 PM with forfeiture a= t 6:50 PM. You must have a legal tea= m by 6:50 PM. (See rule 1.) Subsequent games shall be forfeite= d at 15 minute intervals. Nets sha= ll be up no later than 6:30 PM.

6.&nb= sp;        A ball spin (or rock / scissors / paper) shall be used to determine serve or = side in the first game.

During the fifth game, sides shall ch= ange when the first team reaches 13 points.

7.&nb= sp;        Substitutions (during a dead ball) using current US Volleyball rules or "rotating in" prior to serves may be used at a team's option. Position used for rotating in (i.e= ., middle back, server, etc.) is at team's option, but must be constant during= the game.

8.&nb= sp;        Court size may be 30' x 60' or the equivalent US Volleyball metric size. Net antennas and attack lines are optional. Net height shall be 8'-0".

9.&nb= sp;        The two captains and the two captains alone shall resolve any disputes. If the two captains can not come t= o a mutual agreement, there shall be a replay.

10.&n= bsp;      The server shall call out the score prior to each serve.<= /p>

11.   &nb= sp;   There are no referees in this league. However, if the two teams have extra players, they are encouraged to each provide a referee.

12.&n= bsp;      Shoes with traction devices (trail running shoes with waffle soles or turf shoes = with mini soft rubber spikes) are highly recommended but shoes with hard spikes = such as soccer cleats are strictly prohibited.

13. &nbs= p;     All teams must be able to provide net, poles and lines on the nights when they = are indicated as the home team. Y= ou may ask to borrow equipment from another team in the league, but to be fair to = your opponent on their "night off", try not to ask them to set up.

14.       All players must have signed the Waiver Form prior to playing in any game. Failure to do so may         result in forfeiture of the match.&= nbsp; Players can be added to the Team &nb= sp;    Roster / Waiver anytime by delivering a copy to the League Director. No new players can be added after = August 18th. ID is required at tourn= ament for roster verification. One emergency roster addition may b= e made after 8/18.
